Arthur Paul HOGARTH, aliases Percy, Ted: British. A communist from at least 1936, Paul HOGARTH was with the International Brigade in the Spanish Civil War in 1938. He was active in the Artists' Group of the Party and by 1945 was Art Editor of the 'Volunteer'. He continued to serve the Party as an artist and lecturer and as a delegate to international meetings and exhibitions and was active in the Artists International Association and the Society of Industrial Artists, as well as being a lecturer at the Central School of Art. He left the Party in 1957 and in 1962 joined the editorial board of 'New Left Review' |
