Maurice Joseph GOLDSMITH, alias GOLDMAN: British. Having first come to notice as GOLDMAN in 1936, GOLDSMITH was in 1948 a science writer for 'Reynolds News' and a member of the committee of the London Journalists Group of the Communist Party. From 1949 until 1953 he worked for UNESCO in Paris, then set up his own Science Information Service in London and was a committee member of the communist influenced Association of Scientific Workers. His contacts with known foreign intelligence officers and his attempts to obtain scientific information led to suspicions of espionage which were investigated but not confirmed |
