David Hedley ENNALS, alias Lord ENNALS of Norwich: British. David ENNALS first came to notice in 1946 when, as a regional official of the United Nations Association (UNA), he advocated close cooperation between UNA and local Communist Party branches. He appeared to abandon his communist sympathies after the Soviet invasion of Hungary in 1956, and in 1958 was appointed as Secretary of the International Department of the Labour Party. There were some indications in the early 1960s of a return to more left-wing views |
