Letter (28 June) and order (21 January) concerning the petition of the United East India Company for the despatch of His Majesty's [war]ships to supress the (mostly English) pirates in the Indian Sea [Ocean]. Particularly those of Madagascar, who refitting and selling their plunder in Brazil, cruise off the mouth of the Red Sea and the Indian coast. Also mentions the [French and English] pirate settlement on the island of Mauritius. Reference to former pirates [Henry “Long Ben”] Avery and [Captain William] Kidd.
