Description:

Entry books of opinions, 1806 to 1818, and original opinions from 1814, given by the law officers and others for cases involving the Admiralty, Treasury and other government departments, handled by the Treasury Solicitor and HM Procurator General. They include opinions given by HM Advocate General, Admiralty Advocate, Admiralty Counsel and, on Scottish matters, the Lord Advocate on a wide variety of subjects. There is also some correspondence of 1922 concerning the publication of opinions for the use of government departments, and four Admiralty and Navy case books, 1758 to 1856, detailing opinions under subject headings, such as courts martial, deserters, offences at sea, prize, etc.
