Catalogue description Council of State: Books and Accounts

Books and accounts created by the Council of State in its executive capacity - order books (draft and fair), Parliamentary directives, abstracts of petitions to the Council, letter books of outgoing correspondence, warrants and passes, military commissions and recognizances; and the papers and accounts of its committees, including a volume of orders and letters of the Admiralty Committee.

There are some gaps in the council records, which can usually be supplied from other sources, either in the Public Record Office or in the Bodleian library.
