Description:

Folio(s) 271-273. Letter from [Lieutenant Colonel Francis Humberston Mackenzie], Lord Lieutenant of Ross-shire, at Castle Brahan [Dingwall, Ross-shire], requesting the King's approval to appoint some deputy lieutenants to replace those deceased or non resident.

Enclosed is a Memorandum listing the non-effective deputies, stating why they are not effective, the parishes in the commission of each, and proposing alternative appointments.

Listed as 'absent' [non resident]: Sir Hugh Munro, for parishes of Kiltearn, Alness and Rosskeen; Alexander MacDonald for Lochcarron.

Listed as 'dead': Sir Alexander Mackenzie, for Contin, Fodderty, Dingwall and Urray; Lieutenant General Charles Ross for Edderton and Kincardine; and Andrew Robertson for the Burgh and Liberties of Dingwall.
