Prisoner details: Sometime boatman and ship carpenter of Culross, Perthshire.

Court and date of trial: Circuit Court of Justiciary, Perth, 21 September 1821.

Crime: Assault - upon Peter Hutchison and James Drysdale at Culross.

Initial sentence: 12 months imprisonment and to find security for good behaviour for five years.

Annotated: '20 April 1822 refused'.

Petitioner(s): Alexander Masterton (the convict) undersigned by the minister and two elders of the [local] church and the burgh surgeon.

Grounds for clemency: Previous good character; prevarication by Ann Drysdale (the victim's daughter).
