Folios 282-287. Memorandum from Lord Southampton [Vice-Chamberlain to the Prince of Wales] enclosing a letter to him of 6 August from Colonel John St Leger at Brighton [Sussex] forwarding, on the instructions of, and with the endorsement of, the Prince of Wales, a petition to the king, received from Lord John Russell, in which a large number of Hampshire farmers asked that John Forder, convicted at Winchester Assizes of sheep-stealing and sentenced to death, should have his skills in managing cattle and land put to use in New South Wales.
