Charles Desmond GREAVES: British. GREAVES was a member of the British Communist Party from 1934 and convenor of the Irish Committee of the International Department of the party in 1949. He was a leading figure in the Connolly Association, a Communist-controlled front organisation active amongst Irish people in the UK, and the editor in 1959 of its publication 'Irish Democrat'
