Walter GIESE. Described in 1942 as the Nazi Party chief and Head of Espionage in Ecuador, GIESE was required by the Abwehr to provide intelligence on Allied shipping in the Panama Canal. That year he was expelled from Ecuador and later from Argentina. In 1943 he organized the dispatch of German agents to Argentina from a base in Spain. In late 1944, under pressure from the Allies, the Spanish authorities forced his removal from Spain to Germany |
