David GIBBONS, alias Danny, 'Jack': British. Scottish-born communist who came to London in 1927 and achieved Party office in North London by 1935. He then served in Spain with the International Brigade and on return played a very active but unobtrusive part in communist affairs in London. Most interest in GIBBONS stemmed from his appointment by the Party leadership in March 1942 to the special work of advising Communist Party members in the armed forces. Using the alias 'Jack' without a surname, and working from a covert office at the 'front' organisation the Workers' Music Association, GIBBONS reported to ROBSON of the Communist Party of Great Britain (CPGB) Control Commission who used the alias 'Tom' for the purpose |
