Description:

Fritz Joubert DUQUESNE: South African/American. He was arrested in New York in 1918 masquerading as an Australian whose identity, it was reported, had been arranged for him by German intelligence. Subsequent reports suggested that he had been involved in a series of acts of sabotage against British shipping in South American waters during the war. In 1941 DUQUESNE, by now a leading member of an Abwehr network in the USA, was arrested there on espionage charges and later sentenced to 20 years' imprisonment
