This series contains bound volumes of the printed weekly reports, circulated by the Requirements and Statistics Department, of contracts and orders placed by the Ministry of Munitions, with statistical tables showing the weekly deliveries of materials, labour returns, orders in hand, area organisation, etc. The reports are referred to extensively in the page footnotes within the printed History of the Ministry of Munitions.
The set of reports in this series is made up mainly from copies issued to various senior officials in the Ministry. Occasionally particular copies bear marginal notations and underlinings. Each report consists of a number of sections each section having its own pagination. The page numbers referred to in the index to these reports (MUN 2/1B) is the serial numbering in manuscript at the head of each volume of reports. Volume numbers are shown in Roman capitals in the list below. Sectional content, lay-out and make-up of the reports varies from time to time.

Administrative / biographical background:

The Requirements and Statistics Department was orginally part of the Secretariat but later became independent. Its responsibilities had expanded enormously. In April 1917 an Allies Branch was established in the department. In November 1917 the department was divided into two and became a separate group with its head a member of the Munitions Council.
