Leon JOSEPHSON (1) / Barney JOSEPHSON (2), alias (1) Bernard A HIRSCHFIELD: Latvian, naturalised American. Leon JOSEPHSON, a lawyer by training and a self-admitted Communist, was in 1932 involved in providing support for the Russian illegal (either Comintern or Military Intelligence) LYND, then visiting India. In 1935 he was one of a group of Russian Military Intelligence agents arrested in Copenhagen and charged with espionage. Barney JOSEPHSON, a nightclub owner, was an associate of members of the Communist Party of the USA and patron of left-wing performers |
