EPPLER, whose father was Egyptian, was inserted into Cairo in 1942 by the Abwehr equipped with a radio transmitter to send information about British troop and shipping movements direct to Rommel's HQ. Noradio link was ever established. EPPLER and his companion agent, Heinrich SANDSTEDE, were arrested in July 1942 |
