This series contains miscellaneous correspondence and papers of the Local Government Board and predecessors. The records relate to enquiries on matters of poor law administration, and, after 1871, public health and local government services, from miscellaneous individuals and organisations. Includes bill papers relating to the Poor Law Officers Superannuation Act 1896 and a ledger of the Poor Law Commissioners, 1834 to 1837.
Volumes for 1851 and 1858 are missing. Most of the papers covering the period 1900 to 1919 were destroyed by enemy action in 1941 and fire in 1944.
