| Selection and destruction information: | This series has been raised to accommodate records with the prefix letters CR created from 1969 onwards, following the merger of the offices of the Commissioner and the Receiver which came into operation on 1 April 1968. Much of the revised numbering system remained the same as that in use since 1940, with the exception that all files now had the addition of a two letter prefix which indicated the broad subject matter covered (eg LB = land and buildings, TR = transport). |
