Whitehall, 10 Jan, 1677 Gentlemen, Upon receipt this morning of yors, of the 8th about a lunatique that is found to be among ye Recruits for Tangier that are upon ye James, having acquainted ye Lords therewith, I am to desire you, not only that he may be Discharged from the Shipp, but that you would likeweise direct that ye Capt. Of the Gally cause him to be delivered In to ye care of ye next Justice of Peace, that by his Warr[an]t he may be conveyed to Bedlam for care; as a little Necessary Charity to such a poore creature, he is to have his Coate, two shirts & two crafatts, a pare of stockins, & Shoes, that have been delivered him at ye King's charge, not taken away, but left with him, wherein being Assured of yor good care. I remain, Gentn, Yor most humble servant Jo. Creed.

[Order that a lunatic among the recruits for Tangier, upon the ship James, should be discharged and delivered into the care of the nearest JP, to be sent to Bedlam: he is to retain the clothes issued at the King's charge.]
