Content: Folio 20. Draft letter from Edwin Chadwick, Secretary to the Poor Law Commission, to the Reverend Philip Gurdon, Cranworth, Shipdham, Norfolk, regarding a request for the emigration of a pauper, his wife and eleven children from the parish of Cranworth to New York [America]. It is not the duty of the Commission to encourage emigration outside of the British Colonies, but as the pauper already has relatives in the United States, they will sanction the expense, relevant forms to be filled in are enclosed [not included]. With regard to a ship they suggest enquiries are with the emigration agents. 442/A//1837. Poor Law Union Number 302. Counties: Norfolk.
