Content: Folios 393-394. Letter from Carter and Bonus, 11 Leadenhall Street [London], to E Chadwick [Edwin Chadwick], Secretary to the Poor Law Commission. They enclose a list of emigrants conveyed to Canada on the ship Sisters, certified by A C Buchanan, Her Majesty's Chief Agent for Emigration in Canada, and ask the Commission to issue their Certificate of Satisfaction for these. They also refer to correspondence regarding emigrants from Northiam parish in the Rye Union, and specifically to the Commission's letter of 10 May, number 5848/B/1843. On the reverse side of the letter is a list of unions, with parishes, sending emigrants: Rye Union: Playden, Rye and Northiam parishes. Romney Marsh Union [Kent]: Newchurch parish. Erpingham Poor Law Union [Norfolk]: Holt parish. Cranbrook Poor Law Union [Kent]: Benenden and Sandhurst parishes. Cuckfield Poor Law Union: Clayton, Balcombe and Keymer parishes. Tenterden Poor Law Union [Kent]: Wittersham and Woodchurch parishes. Faversham Poor Law Union [Kent]: Faversham and Throwley parishes. Midhurst Poor Law Union: Woollavington parish. Battle Poor Law Union: Bexhill parish. The enclosure names those conveyed to Quebec on the ship Sisters, of which the Master was John Baker. Those listed are: Richard Caspell. A C Buchanan, Chief Agent, certifies that the agreement has been fulfilled by Carter & Bonus and by Captain Baker, and that the emigrants are satisfied with the provisions and accommodation on board the Sisters.
