Number on the ship's books 86; John Hooper, aged 35, Able Seaman; pension certificate granted on 10 August 1855, nature of hurt, wounded on board HMS London by sustaining a severe contusion of the upper & back part of left hip by a shot (which injury was followed by sloughing of considerable portion of soft parts resulting in lameness and inability to go aloft) on 17 October 1854.
