Content: Folios 516-520. Letter from Henry Edward Paine, Clerk to the Guardians of the Rye Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission regarding emigration from the parish of Iden. He forwards the required documentation with a request for an early response as there is little time for the emigrants to obtain their outfits. Completed emigration form A, 'Notice of meeting to consent to raising or borrowing money for emigration purposes'; emigration form B 'Resolution entered in Vestry Book' and emigration form C Certificate of Minister, Churchwardens and Overseers of the Forms of the Act having been complied with' for the parish of Iden. To consider raising money from the poor rate to assist emigration, and a resolution from the meeting stating that the sum of £35 is to be raised. Signed by Thomas Goodchild, Minister, Samuel Pix and James Catt, Churchwardens and James Goodman and Benjamin Walker, Overseers. Also a proforma listing 24 persons who will emigrate to Sydney, with their ages, occupation, and receipt of relief: William Hall and Celia Hall, with four sons, Henry Hall, James Hall, Frederick Hall and William Hall; and two daughters Frances Hall and Martha Hall. Hall is described as a very useful and ingenious man. William Dive and Jane Dive with two small children; Mary Ann Dive and Jane Dive. Three young men: Thomas Dive, Stephen Dive and James Dive with two young women: [Frances -----] and [Sarah -----]; with a note that they will be married before embarkation. William Crowhurst and Mary Anne Crowhurst. Caroline Coggen Charles Ward. Charles Fuller and Hannah Fuller, and Eliza Fuller, their daughter. Annotated that the order be issued.
