Description: |
William Wellesley Pole. Thomas Brown, appointed to act as Harbourmaster at Heligoland has asked for a house allowance. No house has been made available for his use, the house rent there is very high and houses are difficult to acquire. There is a house, which belonged to the Navy, now in the possession of the Commissary, and if this were delivered to Mr. Brown, it would contain the yawls crews and furniture belonging to the boats. Opine it unlikely the Commissariat Department will give up the house and therefore ask what allowance should be made to Mr. Brown for house rent for himself and boat crews. |
