Records of the Derby and South Derbyshire Magistrates Court, including inherited records, 1850-1984.

 

The present court name began in 1978, an amalgamation of the Derby Borough division, the South Derbyshire division and the Derby County and Appletree division. The South Derbyshire division had been formed in 1974 (following local government reorganisation) from the Swadlincote and Repton divisions, while the Ashbourne division (for records of this, see D1049) was then transferred to West Derbyshire. The Derby County and Appletree division was formed in 1968 from the Derby division and the Appletree division, minus those parts then transferred to Derby Borough.

 

These records were deposited in April 1972, with additions in September and October 1978, October and November 1984, February, September and October 1986, October 1987 and July 1993.
