Title: Will of Humphrey Sandford of Shrewsbury.
Description:

1. Manor of Edgton and Beyston with all messuages, lands etc. to Humphrey Sandford of Horderley, tanner and kinsman of above, for his natural life, and after his decease to the use of Humphrey Sandford his eldest son and heirs male; in default of which to the use of Matthew Sandford second son and heirs male; in default of which to the use of the 3rd - 7th son and their heirs, in order of seniority.

 

2. To Humphrey Sandford the father, of Horderley the capital messuage in the Isle of Up Rossall, with all buildings, barns, stables etc. belonging subject to the charge to be laid on it, and after his decease of Humphrey Sandford the father, to his eldest son, and his heirs male, in default of which to Matthew Sandford, and 2-7th sons of Humphrey Sandford in seniority of birth.

 

3. The capital messuage called The Lee, in the parish of Whitchurch now in the tenure of William Brett, with all buildings, lands etc. belonging to Humphrey Sandford the elder of Horderley for his natural life, and after his decease to the use of Humphrey Sandford eldest son and heirs male, in default of which to Matthew Sandford and 2-7 sons of Humphrey in seniority of birth.

 

Provided always that Humphrey Sandford his sons and heirs to whom the estate shall descend by virtue of the will, shall pay several sums to several persons:- to Dorothy Brickdale cousin, eldest daughter of late sister Sarah £500 to be paid to her within 12 months, after his decease, or at the day of her marriage, if this shall first happen, and to the four younger sisters, Jane, Mary, Martha and Anne Brickdale to be paid on their marriages, or when they shall be 21 years.

 

To Michael Brickdale, tinman in Shrewsbury the sum of - (blank). Dorothy Brickdale, daughter of Sarah appointed executrix To Mr.Richard Lloyd and Mrs. Abigail Lloyd a hood and scarf of £5 value, as also to cousin

 

Mrs. Davenport of the Heys near Oswestry a hood and scarf of the same value, and also to cousin Richard Brickdale's wife the same, and rings and gloves to cousin Richard and John Brickdale of Bristol and to their wives. Further that in case Anne, Mary, Martha or Jane Brickdale shall die before the legacies become due, that the legacy shall be paid and divided among the survivors. Interest to be received by cousins from the time of testator's decease.
