Gift of the Empress Matilda and Henry, Duke of Normandy, her son [later Henry II] of a meadow in the Forest of Chippenham for pasture and hay, and 20/- [worth] of the land next to the bridge of Lacock, belonging to the fee of Ruda [?Rowde], and a rent of 3d a day from the farm of Chippenham as long as it is inhabited by this religious people.

 

Witnesses: William the chancellor, Herbert the chaplain, Alexander de Buhun, Richard de Haia, Hugh de Doura, Walkelinus Maminot, Hubert de Vallibus, Manesserus Biset, Williamson of Hamonis, Warin son of Gerold, William de Ansgervilla [,] 'at Rothomagum' [Rouen].
