Administrative / biographical background:

Most of these photographs were taken by the donor's father, James Robert Finch. He was interested in photography and developed his own photography and developed his own photos by exposing them to the sun in the back yard of the house in Crescent Road, Lower Crumpsall, where the donor lived until she was 11, in 1932.

 

For the earliest years of their marriage James and Nellie Finch, the donor's parents, lived in rooms in Springfield Road?/Street?, opposite Crescent Road where they first had a house. James Finch was a foreman at the CWS cake factory, behind the biscuit factory, in Lower Crumpsalll.
