Bideford Grammar School

 

The school is said to have been founded in the sixteenth century and was originally sited in Allhalland Street, where it was rebuilt in 1686. In 1873 the school moved to a site on Northdown Road. It was enlarged in 1908 and recognised as a grant-earning secondary school by the Board of Education. Since 1929, the school has been maintained by Devon County Council. The Abbotsham Road buildings were erected in 1934-1935 and girls were first admitted to the school in 1972.
