The donor's father, Joseph Robinson was a mill worker. He married Jane Elizabeth Ashton in 1899. She was a mill worker before marriage. They had 2 daughters, Hannah (born 1906) and Edith Helen (born 1910). Joseph died in 1916, Jane Elizabeth remarried. Her second husband was called Samuel Kenworthy, a horse keeper from Failsworth.
