Papers concerning a lawsuit brought in the court of star chamber by Godfrey Morlen, yeoman, of Long Staunton, Cambs., against George Boston, Henry Holford, John Phipers, Richard Phipers, George Hynde, Bennyt Elwood, John Draper, William Cawver als Calver, and Henry Litle, et al., of Long Staunton, 1593. Morlen accused Boston et al., of assaulting his brother, breaking down hedges round a newly-enclosed piece of land, pasturing a large number of cattle on the land, and of carrying away his crop from that same piece of land, all in a riotous and lawless manner. The land was leased from Sir Fulke Greville. |
