Attested copy will of Thomas Evans of Derby.

 

To grandson William Evans: manor of Alkmonton, p. of Longford (Derbs.), with appurtenances.

 

To dau. Sarah Upton, wife of Charles Upton of Derby: annuity of £600 payable out of KINGSTON manor, and £1,000 payable out of estates at Darley and Allestree.

 

To sons Edmund Evans and Walter Evans: £4,000 payable out of Darley and Allestree estates, upon trust to pay interest to S.U..

 

To son Walter and grandson William Evans: one equal moiety each of testator's dwellinghouse in Darley, (residence of Walter Evans), farm purchased of executors of Mrs. Holden, Folly House, Shroggs Meadow, cotton mill, paper mill, corn mill and all lands and estate at Darley next Derby; all estates in Allestree, two Darley Closes in Mackworth, subject to charges as above; also Holmes Mill, p. of All Saints, Derby, counting house and warehouse in St. Marys Gate, Derby, third share of lease of Derby waterworks, mills, buildings and appurtenances; and half part of smelting house in Bonsall (Derbs.).

 

To Walter Evans: Park Hall, and farms and land in possession of Edward Blurton, in Leigh Church (Staff.); farm and lands at Leigh Church and Checkley called Dairy Farm, farm and lands at Fole (Staff.), corn mill, farm and lands at Cauldon (Staff.).

 

To William Evans: dwelling house in St. Marys Gate, Derby, (residence of testator), pew in All Saints Church, and Wood Lezzan farm in Leigh Church.

 

To son Edmund Evans 4 closes called Pump closes, formerly part of Park Field in p. of St. Alkmund, Derby, farm and lands in Hollington (Derbs.), occ. John Barker, farms and land in Yeaveley (Derbs.); Ednaston Hall Farm, p. of Brailsford (Derbs.), farm and lands and moiety of same in Snelston occ. William Wood; moiety of manor of Kingston, manors and properties and moieties of manors and properties at Hollington, Yeaveley, Ednaston, and in p. of Brailsford and Snelston; also dwellinghouse in St. Marys Gate, occ. Mrs. Francis, and two tenements adjoining, and pew in All Saints Church; also post chaise, 2 chaise horses and harness.

 

Estate at Kingston subject to charges as follows:

 

To grandchildren : Edward, Elizabeth, Ann and Frances Strutt at ages of 21 years:

 

£1,000 each.

 

To housekeeper Mary Frisby:

 

Annuity of £40.

 

To servant boy James Hutchinson at age of 21 yrs:

To Edmund and Walter Evans (as above):
