Administrative / biographical background:

The school was opened by the School Board in 1896 with Junior and Infant departments. In 1900 it was expanded to cater for boys, girls, juniors and infants. Reorganised in 1937 for senior boys and infants. The then Boys Primary School was, in 1956, to become a secondary modern school and was renamed the Pearson High School. The High School closed in 1967, with the boys transferring to the Sir Henry Cooper High School. The Infant School continued, later, as a primary school.
