Agreement on marriage of Robert Rolle, Esq., grandson and heir apparent of Sir John Rolle of Stevenstone (in St. Giles in the Wood), Knight of the Bath, and Elizabeth Duke, only daughter and heir presumptive of Richard Duke the younger of Otterton, Esq.

 

Covenant by Richard Duke the elder of Otterton, Esq., and Richard Duke the younger to assign £10000 to Robert Rolle, as marriage portion of Elizabeth Duke, £5000 of which is to be secured by a conveyance to Robert Rolle, after the deaths of Richard Duke the elder and the younger, of the manor or messuage and farm of Otterton in Otterton and Bicton; capital messuage of Otterton, with the tithes belonging thereto; manor of Colaton Abbat or Duke's Collaton in Colaton Raleigh.

 

Covenant by Sir John Rolle and Robert Rolle to convey lands of annual value of £1500, to the use of Robert Rolle for life, and then for his sons in order, etc.

 

Covenant by the same to settle an annuity of £800 on Elizabeth Duke after the death of her husband, and to settle estates to make provisions for younger sons.

 

Covenant by the same to convey remainder of their estates (except the manor and lands of Yarnescombe, the bartons and lands of East Horwood, West Horwood and Penhorwood, and other lands in Horwood, tenement called Hartypoint in Hartland, and two fields in Great Torrington, late of Henry Langdon, deceased, now of Thomas Flaxman) to the use of Sir John Rolle for life, and then of Robert Rolle, and then to the same uses as the lands of £1500 annual value.
