Collection of official papers, largely written by him, comprising reports of proceedings and related documents covering his command of the 1st MTB Flotilla and the development of Coastal Forces (1935 - 1938); his command, as a Commander, of HMS CLEVELAND (15th Destroyer Flotilla) including records of the raid on St Nazaire (March 1942), a sweep for French fishing vessels in the South West Approaches (September 1942), the defence of a convoy against E - boat attack in the South West Approaches (September 1942), convoy escort duties carried out by HMS CLEVELAND, HMS ALBRIGHTON and HMS ESKDALE during the preparatory stages of Operation Torch, the Allied landings in North Africa (October - November 1942) and the planned interception of a German armed merchant cruiser (January 1943); his appointment in the Training and Staff Duties Division at the Admiralty and preparation of a report on the development of action information organisation (1944); his command, as a Captain, of Naval Assault Force 'A' during Operation Zipper, the Allied invasion of Malaya, including details of convoy movements (September 1945); his appointment as Senior Naval Officer Sumatra in Operation Dulcie, the occupation of Sumatra and the local surrender of all Japanese forces including documents about the surrender negotiations and ceremony (September - October 1945); his appointment as Flag Officer, Home Fleet Training Squadron (1956 - 1957); and his appointment as Flag Officer, Helicopter Group during Operation Musketeer, the assault on Port Said during the Suez crisis (November 1956).
