In abstracting the minutes the effort has been made to take note of all missionary appointments and actions affecting missions, but measures deemed to be of a routine or procedural nature are not noted.

 

1-2. 27 Feb. 1701. Bishop of London asked to recommend a missionary for Narragansett. Governor designate of New Jersey asked to divide colony into parishes. George Keith granted £200 per annum travelling allowance and immediate payment of £50.

On information from clergy in New York that William Bradford was printing Book of Common Prayer and Tate and Brady, committee recommends that he be requested to send over a specimen. Reports request of Mr. Bartow for payment of salary. Recommends that Mr. Crawford be allowed to move from Dover Hundred to Hopewell for reasons of health.

143-4. 17 Jan. 1706/7. Reply of Bishop of Gloucester and rejoinder of Talbot considered. Apparently the issue was one of residence (cf. vii. 232). Talbot is asked if he will consider returning to service of the society. He also presents a petition for colonial bishops. Archbishop of Canterbury is asked to present Jackson's case to the Lord Keeper.
