Close in Edgmond called the Townsend Croft (3 acres 1 rood 14 perches) late in the occupation of John Besford, now of John Topham, bounded on the East by land in the possession of Thomas Cropp, on the South by Brasenells Garden, on the West by a lane leading from Edgmond towards the March, and on the North by land lately purchased from Robert Pigott by Edward Griffis. A close in Edgmond called the further Underhill (3 acres 3 rood 27 perches) late in the occupation of Joseph Hill and now of John Topham, bounded on the East by a lane leading from Edgmond to Sandywell and on the South by land late in the possession of Thomas Durose, but now of Robert Salt, on the West by a watercourse called the Bilnage Ditch dividing the said close from land belonging to Rebecca Forrester, spinster, now in the possession of William Rose, and on the North by land of Richard Bayley, Esq. in the occupation of Elizabeth Icke.

 

A close in Edgmond called Besfords Meadow alias Newport Meadow (2 acres 3 roods 28 perches) now or late in the occupation of John Besford, bounded on the East by land late belonging to John Cooke deceased, on the South by land in the possession of Joseph Topham, on the West by land belonging to Thomas Adams, Miss Beetenson and the said Rebecca Forrester, and on the North by land belonging to Lord Shrewsbury.

 

To hold to Francis Sambrooke and his heirs forever.

 

Covenant that Robert Pigott has a clear title to the property, free of incumbrances except a term of five hundred years created by indentures of lease and release of 23 & 24 November 1733 being a settlement made previous to the marriage of Robert Pigott, Esq., deceased, and Ann Peers, spinster, father and mother of Robert Pigott, party, for raising £3,000 for the portions of younger children which having been since paid off the term is, as to the premises hereby granted, by indenture of even date with the release, assigned to Thomas Morris snr. of Newport, gent., in trust for Francis Sambrooke and his heirs to attend the freehold and inheritance of the premises.

 

Whereas Robert Pigott has in his custody the deeds in the schedule below, which relate to other property of Robert Pigott in addition to the property conveyed, so Robert Pigott covenants to produce the same if required.

Pigott covenanted to suffer a recovery in which the Wm Wards were demandants, Oliver & Savage, tenants & R. Pigott, vouchee, of, inter alia, the manor of Edgmond and his property there, to uses declared in the release

23 & 24 November 1733 Lease & release between the last Robert Pigott and Robert Pigott his eldest son (1) Ann Peers (2) Edward Hosier & Maximilian Stevens, Esq (3) Richard Lyster & Charles Baldwyn, Esqs (4) John Harvey and John Evans Esqs (5) being the settlement on the marriage of Robert Pigott the son and Ann Peers of inter alia, the manor of Edgmond and property there, limited to uses, covenanting a recovery to be suffered in which Lyster and Baldwyn were to be demandants, Hosier & Stevens, tenants and the two Pigotts vouchees.

 

Trinity Term 10 George III Exemplification of recovery 4 & 5 March 1772 Lease and release enrolled in Chancery between Richard Lyster (1) The Rev. William Pigott, only surviving younger son of Robert Pigott, the grandfather (2) Robert Pigott, party (3) being a conveyance from Richard Lyster, heir of the surviving trustee named in the will of Robert Pigott, the grandfather, in whom all the manors etc. over which he had disposing power were vested for the payment of debts and legacies, of the premises to Robert Pigott, party, in fee.

 

5 June 1772 Indenture between John Harvey Thursby, Esq (1) Robert Pigott, party (2) The Rev. William Pigott, Edward Pigott and Charles Pigott, Esqs, Frances Pigott, Honor Pigott and Ann Pigott, spinsters, and John Mytton and Rebecca his wife, née Pigott, the children of Robert Pigott, the father by Ann née Peers, then deceased (3) The Rt. Hon. Lord Ravensworth and Christopher D'Oyley, Esq (4) William Chamberlayne (5) Arthur Kelley Esq. (6) William Drew (7) Thomas Butcher, Esq. (8) being an assignment by J.H.Thursby who was the sole executor of John Harvey surviving trustee of the settlement of 23 & 24 November 1733 of a term of 500 years created for raising £3,000 for the portions of younger children made by the direction of such younger children, to Thomas Butcher, in trust to attend the inheritance upon which indenture is indorsed a deed poll of 1 July 1776 by which Thoma Butcher, by the directionof Robert Pigott, party, assigned the term of 500 years to Michael Bray, gent. in trust to attend the inheritance.
