Re agreement between Ashley Cowper patentee of the office of Reading Clerk of the House of Lords and William Cowper his nephew for whom he held the office in trust, inc. copy letter from Lord Cowper, letter from Mary de Grey asking whether her brother Spencer was really engaged to Charlotte Baber, and draft and printed copies of Reasons upon which the right of the Clerk of the Parliaments to appoint a Clerk Assistant is founded, 1747. Inc. also printed Reasons in support of the right Mr. Cowper had to appoint a Clerk of the Journals in 1764 on Maclay's death
