Catalogue description Luries' Barber Shop on Elizabeth Street c.1920. The shop was a ladies and gents hairdressing cum barber shop from before World War I to after World War II. Morris Lurie ran the shop, and also was a boxer, and later his son Hyman took over, and eventually became a well known table tennis player. Mrs. Lurie was the first lady barber in Manchester. Mr. Lurie was a chiropodist. From left to right: Celia and Fay Lurie, who ran the ladies section; Morris Lurie; his wife; Hyman Lurie.
