Administrative / biographical background:

Two of the members of this branch of the Stansfield family were in the leather trade at Roomfield Buildings, Todmorden - Thomas (died 1908) and his son William Walker Stansfield (died 1943). There is also some material relating to Thomas' other son, Thomas Edward Knowles Stansfield, who became a successful doctor in the field of mental health (see WYC:1069/53) and was granted a coat of arms in 1903 (see WYC:1069/57).
