History: Born in Nottingham and educated at Mundella Grammar School. She joined Nottingham Central Library in 1929. She worked in the children's lbirary and as chief assistant in the Reference Library, before being appointed in charge of the Reference Library in 1950. When the Reference Library was split she took charge of the Local History Department. She was an ardent theatre-goier and a founder member of the Playhouse Club. She was also a member of the Thoroton Society, secretary of the Newstead Abbey Society, and a member of the National Council of Women and the Nottingham Civic Society. She was the third women to be appointed President of the North Midland Branch of the Library Association in 1963. She retired in 1972, and was awarded an MBC for public service in Nottingham in 1977. She died on 29 March 2007.
