History: Only son of George I. Married in 1705 to Caroline of Brandenburg-Anspach. As Electoral Prince of Hanover, distinguished himself at Oudenaarde, 1708. Created Prince of Wales, 1714. Succeeded to the throne in June 1727; crowned 11 Oct 1727. His victory at Dettingen in 1743 in the War of the Austrian Succession was the last battle commanded by a British monarch. Died Oct 1760 and succeeded by grandson, George III.
