| History: | Descent of manor Colne was a demesne manor of the honour of Clitheroe. A demise of the manor was made to Edward Allen and another by Charles I in 1625. It came into the possession of Henry Doughty of Thornley. After the Restoration the manor was included in the honour conferred on General Monk, but Colne Hall remained with the Doughtys, and so descended through the Patten heiress to the Earls of Derby.
