Date: 1848-1937
History: This school was established c. 1846 in premises at Vine Lane, Newcastle. There were separate boys and girls schools until 1884 when it was reorganised as a mixed and infants school, although registers continued to be kept separately. The infants school was briefly separated in 1875 but due to poor attendance and the lack of suitable premises was reunited with the girls school a few months later. There was also a senior department, although this is not represented in the surviving records. The school closed in March 1937, as the City Council declined to renew the lease on the school premises.
