Date: 1819-1837
History: Information from the Victoria County History, Volume X (Tutbury and Needwood Forest, 2007). A firm was established at Morrey in Yoxall in the 18th century by a Mr Wright. In the early 19th century this was being run by John Emery & Co. There was also a connection with William Bond through property rental, the Bond family also being prominent in the trade. Directories list Bond & Co (1818), Francis and Morton Bond (1834) and Hindle & Bonds as running tape manufacturing businesses. The account books in this collection are connected with the Bond family: William Bond is an investor, also Francis Bond, Morton Bond, and Mr Hindle. However, it has not proved possible to confirm the exact name of the business at this date from the account books. The industry appears to have declined from the mid-19th century [VCH].
