History: In 1937 Middlesex County Council acquired the newly built Bushey Health Clinic at Heathbourne Road in Bushey, re-naming it Middlesex County Maternity Hospital. It opened in 1938 with 48 beds. After the foundation of the National Health Service in 1948, it was administered by the Hendon Group Hospital Management Committee as part of the North West Metropolitan Regional Hospital Board. From 1950 until it closure it had beds for 50 patients. In 1974 it became part of the Hendon District Health Authority in the North West Thames Regional Health Authority. The hospital was closed in 1977. The site was bought by BUPA, and the hospital was re-developed. In May 2008 Spire Bushey Hospital was opened.
