Northern Counties School for the Deaf

Admin history: Founded in 1838 as the Northern Asylum for the Blind & Deaf & Dumb in Wellington Place, Newcastle. Early proposals to amalgamate with the Royal... for the Deaf and Dumb, as it was now called, moved to Charlotte Square, but a building fund was established in 1858, and new purpose built premises at... other items have been retained by the school and access is by arrangement with the head teacher.
