Charity Commission: Enrolments under Various Acts, Series 1
This series consists of voluntary and mortmain enrolments under various Acts including the Charitable Trusts Amendment Act 1855 and the Mortmain and Charitable Uses Act 1888.
The Charitable Trusts Amendment Act 1855 provided that any will, deed or other document could voluntarily be enrolled in the books of the Charity Commissioners for record purposes.
Under various enactments, beginning with the Mortmain and Charitable Uses Act 1888, enrolment with the Commissioners was in some circumstances accepted as an alternative to enrolment in Chancery.
