Royal Hospital Chelsea: Length of Service Pensions, Admission Books
These service pensions books relate to pensions awarded to soldiers for length of service.
From 1857 they give the individual's registered Chelsea number, regiment, rank, name, age, years of service, rate of pension, details of foreign service, regimental surgeon's report, character reference, cause of disability, place of birth, trade, height and physical description.
From 1874 the records may also provide information on intended place of residence, date of discharge and number of good conduct badges.
From 1903 the date of enlistment is recorded, and from 1905 the medals awarded to the soldiers are given.
