Note: 14 or 16 Henry VIII, made for the Great Loan of 14 Henry VIII or the Subsidy of 16 Henry VIII. The names of the inhabitants of each parish are given, with the value of spiritual and temporal goods and services. The names of the aliens, being under the French King's obedience and the valor of their goods are entered separately. The valuations may also have been used for assessing the arms which the inhabitants had to provide for an array, as opposite names frequently appear such entries as "jack, doublet, bill" or "bows and arrows" or "whole harness".
